21 Pat St. John - Live From The House Of Blues Promo

"Live From The House of Blues Presented By Pontiac Sunfire" was a syndicated radio show distributed on two cds, with concerts recorded at a House of Blues club (at the time, in Los Angeles, New Orleans, or Cambridge, MA).  The live music was interspersed with national commercials, and the House of Blues was promoted by short comments from patrons, or there were interviews with the artists. The syndicated radio show premiered on January 27, 1995 and appears to have run for a year, with the shows running once a week.

The shows don't turn up on EBAY very often, so the number of stations participating in the syndication was low, compared to shows like King Biscuit Flower Hour. Lisa Collins’ “In The Spirit” column in the September 16, 1995 issue of BILLBOARD says 120 stations carried it. I've only identified the following shows:
Show #2 Neville Brothers/Tinsley Ellis
Show #3 Koko Taylor
Show #4 George Thorogood (this one is in our archives)
Show #14 Tom Jones
Show #16 Doug Sahm
Show #21 Nighthawks/Savoy Brown (this show...)
Show #51 Graham Parker/Junior Wells

I don't have these other shows (except for Thorogood); I've just seen them on EBAY or found references to them on the Internet.
The "sporty" sponsor of the show.

Also in 1995, 26 live shows were televised on TBS (Turner Broadcast System). A news article says "Featured acts will include the Spin Doctors, Neville Brothers, They Might Be Giants, Public Enemy, Marshall Crenshaw, Jeff Healey and George Thorogood and the Destroyers."

The show was hosted by Pat St. John...who previously hosted "SuperGroups In Concert," and “A Night On The Road” shows in the early 1980s, and the "Live From Electric Ladyland" shows in the early 1990s. At the time, Pat was the morning man on WNEW-FM out of New York City.

The Hoax - Live Germany 1999

Back From The Dead by Request...Third time for this one...

Guitarist Jon Amor
The Hoax - Live Germany 1999
Various Venues
Soundboard @320

British blues-rock group the Hoax consisted of Jon Amor on guitar, Hugh Coltman on vocals and harmonica, Jess Davey on guitar, Robin Davey on bass, and Dave Raeburn on drums. The members were all young students of the blues and had played together since they were in their teens; songwriting and arrangements were worked out together by all five members. The Hoax began to attract attention while on tour with the Smokin' Joe Kubek Band around England, and Code Blue Records label chief Mike Vernon signed them to a deal. Vernon, a veteran producer who had worked with John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Ten Years After, Savoy Brown, and David Bowie, was impressed by the maturity in the band's playing. Critics in England were also impressed with the band's prowess and heaped praise on the Hoax, comparing them to the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and the Rolling Stones. Their debut album, Sound Like This, was released in 1995 on the Code Blue/Atlantic label (although Code Blue was later jettisoned by Atlantic), and the recording is a good reflection of their live shows. On it, the band pays tribute to its influences, such as Albert Collins, Albert King, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robben Ford, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

John Cipollina - The Raven Sessions - 1979

John Cipollina - The Raven Sessions - 1979
Studio Sessions @192

San Francisco Bay Area acid rock guitarist John Cipollina (1943-1989) was a member of many rock groups in the '60s, '70s, and '80s, most notable among them Quicksilver Messenger Service. Cipollina never really had a solo career, but his discography does list one album under his own name, sort of, a record usually referred to as John Cipollina Raven. It isn't actually a solo disc, either, however. In late 1975, a year in which he had already participated in a Quicksilver reunion (Solid Silver) and served as a member of Man (Maximum Darkness), Cipollina hosted the first of a series of rehearsals at his studio that resulted in the formation of Raven, a new band made up of Bay Area stalwarts who, like him, had been members of other area bands. Pianist Nicky Hopkins, for example, had been in Quicksilver, while singer/keyboardist Jim McPherson had been in another Cipollina-led band, Copperhead, a couple of years earlier. But in addition to Cipollina, the other main member of Raven was guitarist Greg Douglass. The band rehearsed for six months and then played, according to annotator Mike Somavilla, "at best, maybe, 11 shows" at such venues as the Keystone nightclub in Berkeley, CA. Then they drifted apart. That probably would have been it, except that in 1980 Cipollina sold some of the group's demos to the West German label Line Records, which issued them as an LP under the name John Cipollina Raven. Now, the British Acadia label has undertaken a fresh assessment of the material on this disc, titled Raven, retaining seven of the tracks from the earlier version, resequenced with seven new tracks, some of them recorded live. They reveal Raven to be a band of between five and seven pieces, depending on the track, that plays densely arranged '70s album rock in a style roughly similar to that of Jefferson Starship, but without that band's distinctive vocals. Some of the musical elements are distinctive, however, starting with Cipollina's stinging guitar playing and Hopkins' bright piano runs. The sound quality sometimes betrays the rudimentary character of the sessions, but this is clearly a talented rock band that had promise for a successful run if somehow it could have gotten past this point. That, of course, is largely the story of Cipollina's journeyman career in general and of some of the other musicians in the band.
~AMG

A commercial recording of this band came out in 1980.
To me, the singer Skip Olson sounds like Chris Youlden from Savoy Brown. It also may be a completely different singer than Skip Olson because it's probably NOT Chris Youlden.

Robert Gordon - Walking Talking Dee Harris Blues @ 224kbps

I recently went to a record show here in my fair city. For the first time I can remember, and I've been going to these shows since they started, the cd selection was horrendous maybe 3 to 4 sellers had any cd's. For all of you fans of vinyl however, some of the artist that were being asked about were Funkadelic, Hawkwind, Savoy Brown "Jack The Toad", Nina Simone. So I would suggest if you have these records either hang on to em or ask a hefty price at your next record show (should you be a seller). I did find a guy who was selling bootleg cd's and vinyl (and the prices he was asking for his vinyl was through the roof) So what I did was buy as many cd's that I had the money for that I have not seen elsewhere on the net. And that's where this little beauty comes from. You don't see much Robert Gordon anywhere. But for the uninitiated Robert Gordon is/was a rockabilly artist. So if that's your cup of tea, I think your gonna like this. I'm not a big fan of audience recordings but this one is great (I don't know maybe soundboard) See scans for details.
