Radiohead handpicked her to tour with them last year, but Natasha Khan would have probably felt more comfortable at some Renaissance fair, playing only for unicorns. With Autoharp odes to crystal knights and songs that claim to channel her alternate personality, "Pearl," the British singer-songwriter might be indie rock's only authentic mystic. Somehow, the music melts away the potential for hokeyness: Pounding on pianos, cranking out delicate little click-clack beats and shivering through choruses with an ultraromantic soprano, Khan proves she's a powerhouse under her billowy sleeves. She could be the next Kate Bush — or, at the very least, she could be Björk's new spirit animal. ~Rolling Stone

Allan Holdsworth Quartet Live In Japan 1985 (Soundboard)
Notes: Allan Holdsworth is widely regarded by fans and contemporary musicians as one of the 20th century's most prominent guitarists.
He is one of a handful of musicians who has consistently proven himself as an innovator in between and within the worlds of rock and jazz music. Many of music's best-known instrumental masters cite Holdsworth as that rare and shining voice—a legendary player who continues to push the outer limits of instrumental technique and the electric guitar's range of tonal and textural possibilities.

Closer Stranded in this spooky town Stoplights are swaying and the phone lines are down This floor is crackling cold She took my heart, I think she took my soul With the moon I run Far from the carnage of the fiery sun
Driven by the strangled vein Showing no mercy I do it again Open up your eye You keep on crying, baby I’ll bleed you dry The skies are blinking at me I see a storm bubbling up from the sea
And it's coming closer And it's coming closer
You, shimmy shook my bone Leaving me stranded all in love on my own What do you think of me Where am I now? Baby where do I sleep Feel so good but I'm old, 2000 years of chasing taking its toll
And it’s coming closer

Split Enz was a New Zealand band of the 1970s and early 1980s featuring Phil Judd and brothers Tim Finn and Neil Finn. They achieved chart success in New Zealand, Australia and Canada during the early 1980s, most notably with the single "I Got You", and built a cult following elsewhere. Their musical style was eclectic and original, incorporating influences from art rock, vaudeville, swing, punk, rock, New Wave and pop. More @ Wiki

No other local band embodies the early-'90s noise rock scene that thrived at the Euclid Tavern more than this quartet. Formed in 1991, Screwtractor's blend of punk, industrial and metal centered around deep-voiced singer Mark Kae, and the sampled sounds and atmospherics of keyboard player Paul Resnick. After reading a favorable write-up in the local US Rocker magazine, a representative from the major label MCA tracked down a demo tape of the band, liked the songs and signed Screwtractor to a deal. In '93, the band released their debut, a six-song EP called EYE. But the deal didn't last long; the MCA subsidiary on which the record was released quickly folded. After continuing to play for another year, band members started branching off: Resnick hooked up with ex-members of Destructor to form the metallic Nuclean; Kae joined Afraid to Ask, and drummer Carlton Holt and Mark Gamiere founded the punk-rap Glocknine. ~Cleveland Plain Dealer

The band first formed in 1967 while its members were studying at Manchester University. The three-piece was composed of Peter Hammill (guitar and vocals), Nick Pearne (organ) and Chris Judge Smith (drums and wind instruments). The group was named after a piece of electric equipment designed to produce static electricity, the Van de Graaff generator. The name was suggested by Smith (the misspellings are
accidental). On the basis of a demo, this blues- and jazz-influenced first incarnation were offered a recording contract with Mercury Records.
Van der Graaf Generator, sometimes known by the shorter Van der Graaf, are an English progressive rock band. The band achieved considerable success in Italy during the 1970s. In 2005 they embarked on a reunion, which continues to the present day.
The Band:
Hugh Banton - organ
Guy Evans - drums
Peter Hammill - voice & acc. guitar
David Jackson - saxes

The Skatalites brought together the top musicians and styles of the time-fusing Boogie-Woogie Blues, R & B, Jazz, Mento, Calypso, and African rhythms -to create the first truly Jamaican music: Ska.
They played initially between 1963 and 1965, and recorded many of their best known songs in the period, including "Guns of Navarone." They also played on records by Bob Marley, Prince Buster, and many other Jamaican artists who recorded during the period. They reformed in 1983 and have played together ever since. With a name like Them Crooked Vultures, who would you expect and what would they be like? How about John Paul Jones on bass and Dave Grohl on drums, let alone Josh Homme of QoSA. Add in Alain Johannes on another guitar and let the threshing begin! I would have taken odds that Grohl had bitten a drumstick at the starting bash.
