Tom Morello was MC for a 2 hour show that was broadcasted on FM. More than 50 US commercial radio stations carry the two-hour debut of "Radio Free L.A." The broadcast includes two live sets by a band comprised of Tom Morello (guitar), Zack de la Rocha (vocal), Flea (bass, of Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Steven Perkins (drums, of Porno For Pyros). They kick out the jams (Evil Empire) on this performance and re-work the songs. This performance may have been recorded at Westwood One Studios.
Radio Free L.A. was announced to be broadcast January 20, 1997: Inauguration day for president Clinton. A few scattered radio stations transmitted the program, and it was also presented as a streaming broadcast on the RATM website. From Tom: -"That election had resulted in one of the lowest voter turnouts in the history of the country, as more and more Americans came to realize that their government was not in their hands, but in the hands of big business. Radio Free L.A. provided a musical and political gathering point for the majority of Americans—and young people especially—who rightly felt left out of the 'democratic process.'" Guests that made appearanced included: Michael Moore, Emily Hodgson, Leonard Peltier, Chuck D, Mumia Abu-Jamal, UNITE, Noam Chomsky, Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, and Subcomandante Marcos of the Zapatistas. Beck, Cypress Hill, and Zack de la Rocha, Tom Morello, Flea and Stephen Perkins jammed out songs in between interviews and presentations. Although Rage Against The Machine is listed as an artist only Tom and Zack de La Rocha appear. Brad Wilk and Timmy C are replaced with Stephen Perkins and Flea. Flea and Stephen Perkins are credited as Members of; Red Hot Chili Peppers, Porno For Pyros. On the website they were credited as Members of Pearl Jam.
Considering the outhouse fire going on today, this is more than appropriate.

On Friday my son and I finally figured out how to hook my turntable up to my comp. Now I know you might be saying what a couple of maroons, but when you're using a Kenner Close and Play and Electrophonic equipment this was quite an accomplishment for us. Also The Boss sent me a ton of music of which I'm going through and will eventually end up here. Billy Idol before he had eyes without a face. Smoking performance. See scans
WHO SAYS I CAN'T SING (Actual quote from the song Paradise West)
Jonas Almqvist , Bengt "Aron" Aronsson, Gert Claesson and others including Freddie Wadling (original bass player).
Swedish band formed in Gothenburg in 1979. Their musical style can
be defined as a mix of garage rock, gothic rock and sleazy pop.
When they released the third album "Nun Permanent" in 1991, their
record company went bankrupt, which slowly led to their dissolution in
1995.
In late 2013 they finally got the rights of the backcatalogue and
the use of the band name 'The Leather Nun' back and recorded a new
album.
They also started reissuing early recordings on their Leather Nun label. ~Discogs
Careening from garage rock to goth and industrial, Leather Nun (aka Ladernunnan) became cult heroes in their native land of Sweden with their shock antics and rollicking tunes. Naming themselves after a London stripper, Leather Nun were formed in Gothenburg in 1979 by Jonas Almqvist (vocals), Bengt "Aron" Aronsson (guitar), Freddie Wadling (bass), and Gert Claesson (drums). Inspired by both Throbbing Gristle and Lou Reed (Almqvist's half-spoken, half-sung vocals were obviously patterned after Reed's), Leather Nun recorded their industrial-leaning debut EP, Slow Death, in 1979. Wadling left Leather Nun in 1982 and joined Blue for Two. A handful of singles followed before Leather Nun released their first live LP, Alive, in 1985. Their debut, Lust Games, followed the year after. The group's imported singles found their way onto U.S. college radio stations, earning substantial airplay with "Pink House," a deadpan parody of John Mellencamp's "Pink Houses." Their sophomore effort, Steel Construction, was issued in 1987, as Leather Nun's American audience began to eclipse their small following in Sweden. The band released the Mick Ronson-produced Nun Permanent in late 1991. The band eventually split up in 1995. While Leather Nun occasionally reunited in the years that followed -- Almqvist even formed a tribute band, Leather Nun: Reloaded, in 2009 -- it wasn't until 2015 that they returned with their fifth album, the Bowie-meets-Sisters of Mercy Whatever (Wild Kingdom/Sound Pollution), their first in nearly 25 years. In 2017, they issued Vive La Fete! Vive La Revolution, a recording of their Glasnost Rock '88 festival appearance. ~Michael Dutton

The live material from The Burning World tour shows us what the album could have sounded like without record company interference. This may or may not be essential live Swans. The audio quality isn't massively great as it's a polished-up bootleg, but it's definitely worth a listen for those interested in how the band sounded live at this time.
* Untitled fragment is from "A Young Girl Needs More", one of two unreleased songs played on the 1988 tour.

No not THAT X...
X-Aspirations, sometimes simply called Aspirations, is the debut studio album from Australian rock band X. It was recorded in a single afternoon in 1979 at Trafalgar Studios in the band's hometown of Sydney and released the following year on the band's own label. After the album's release, the X's original lineup fell apart. In October 2010, X-Aspirations was listed in the book 100 Best Australian Albums. ~Wiki
My all time favourite live act in the 80's. I saw them about 20 times. The live atmosphere was always full on and regardless of their state pre-show they always came alive on stage and never disappointed. They lived a full-on hardcore lifestyle for many years. They NEVER rehearsed, preferring their live show to be rough & raw.~ mbenji (Discogs)
Steve Lucas – guitar, vocals
Ian Rilen – bass
Steve Cafiero – drums
