The Source broadcast the Hall and Oates concert from the Ritz twice.  The first times was a broadcast window of February 20-21-22, 1981.  Sponsors were the U.S. Army and Honda. The second time was the broadcast window of July 31, August 1 - 2, 1981, sponsored by Coca-Cola. We have the second show in our archives.

Both shows have the same music.  Commercials and announcers are different.

For the Febuary broadcast, host Dan Formento says the show was recorded on December 10th. This is correct.

In August broadcast, host John McGhan says it was recorded December 9th.  This is incorrect.
I already did an investigation of this error, and it's in the text file on the second show, so I won't repeat it here. It was nice to have the show itself confirm my conclusion, though.

I found a page from the Feb. 7 issue of Billboard that states at the time of this show, there were 149 Source affiliates, as compared to the 76 stations when series premiered in January 1980 (that's the Todd Rundgren & Utopia show...although we know there was one earlier Santana show in December 1979).

This February version is another one from the Sam Elliot's Mustache collection.
