This is the only three-artist Captured Live show, and it's a bit of a missed programming opportunity. The first thing that jumps out is two solid American bands fronted by a woman singing...and then Australia's INXS.  There's nothing wrong with the line-up, but it seems like a missed opportunity to me. If the RKO Radio Networks had picked... say... Berlin...  we'd have three American bands fronted by women singers, providing a theme for the show.  As it is, INXS looks like the odd man out.

There wasn't much I could find about venues or dates...there's no venue mentioned for Quarterflash or INXS (other than "America" on the INXS show).  Perkin's Palace in Pasadena is the location for Scandal.  However... searching for "scandal" in the newspaper.com database produces more results than I can sort through.

On the Scandal show, two songs ("I Second That Emotion" and "Child of the Night") were unreleased at the time.  They appear to be released now, but still on unofficial recordings.

When I worked at the newspaper, there was a running joke about yelling "Stop the presses!" like they used to do on television shows.  You never want to stop the printing press, it takes hours to set up.   This was uncovered SECONDS before I posted, so STOP THE PRESSES!  Up there in the right-hand corner, (no, your other right hand...) I found a print ad for the show!

And then in pointless investigation, I had a mailing label for the production company, P.G. Productions, of 7200 Vineland Way in Sun Valley, California.  Here's what it looks like today:

You get 300 dpi scans of the cue sheet, all four disc labels, print ads and an L.A. Times review for the Scandal show.

I was unable to track down a date for the Jon Butcher Axis show at the Roxy. Our pal Sam found an Ebay auction selling a magazine clipping mentioning the concert.  I found a higher quality version over at worldradiohistory.com and it's included in the Artwork file.

The clipping is from Billboard Magazine December 28, 1985, and the caption says, "Capitol executives congratulate the Jon Butcher Axis band backstage after their KMET-sponsored show at the Roxy in Los Angeles."  As the show was aired on December 20-22, 1985, and the magazine came out a week later, this provides evidence that the concert might have been in November. There's a listing for him at another club on November 10th, so he was in the area mid-month.

I couldn't find information on "Living For The City" and "Lucky Man," so they may be unreleased.  If there are any Jon Butcher Axis fans out there in Our Beloved Audience, please leave a comment if you know where these two songs were released.

The Charles of the Ritz ad imitates Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Until You Get Enough."

I've got three unidentified Budweiser ads there that all sound like the same singer.  What do you think?  Do you have any idea who that might be?  I'm sure the first ad is Lou Rawls, but is that him on the other three ads?

The Scandal set includes a guest appearance by Eddie Van Halen on the last two songs. I think they're the same set X-Ray posted a few months back. Now you can hear them with commercials!  Hurray!
