Nirvana - 1994-02-22 - Palaghiaccio - Roma,I

Nirvana
1994-02-22
Palaghiaccio
Roma,Italy

Late Nirvana show.
Exciting playings at the edge of life...

Review:
"If,in the 1990`s,you went to a CD swap meet that sold a lot of bootlegs, the amount of Nirvana titles
could be staggering. The most obessive collectors wouldn`t hesitate to spend $500 or more on Nirvana alone and walk away with at least 20 or 25 Nirvana bootlegs, wheras collectors who were more budget-minded would try to determine which ones had the best sound quality and make their purchases accordingly. One Nirvana bootleg with which you can`t go wrong is Roma, recorded live in Rome, Italy on February 22, 1994, the concert occurred less than two month`s before Kurt Cobain`s tragic suicide.
A digital soundboard recording, Roma boasts excellent sound quality - not just decent,but excellent - and the band`s set is outstanding. At the time, Cobain was battling his demons and losing the battle;
he would unsuccessfully attempt suicide on March 4, but succeed in killing himself on April 5.
Despite the emotional hell he was going through, Cobain gives first-rate performances throughout the
concert, singing with as much conviction as ever on "Rape Me,""Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Heart Shaped Box," and other angst-ridden grunge gems. Roma was hardly the only bootleg that resulted
from Nirvana`s European tour of February 1994. There are many others, and the sound quality varies
from one to the next, but those who come across the Rolling Disc label`s version of Roma can rest
assured that they won`t be disappointed by either the sound or the performances." by allmusic

Neil Young & Crazy Horse
2012-10-13
Austin City Limits music Festival
Zilker Park
Austin, TX

The man,who never gives it up to fight for the underdogs: Neil Young!
(if I really think about it: one of the most underappreciated musicians in my world)
Although he was the one,who gave me the entry to the great Rock & Roll...some days ago when I was a little bit younger than today...
Does it really matter? Of course,it does! What a stupid question!
But let me say this way (it doesn`t hurt too much): I am still listening to music that´s somehow older like a mammoth...and:
Will the kids from today have the honor, too, to listen to anybody from today in 2050?
I wish they will...

Radio Birdman - 1976-11-23 - Double Jay Studio - Sydney, AUS

Radio Birdman
1976-11-23
Double Jay Studio
Sydney, AUS
 FM Broadcast

Australian Punk Rock from the beginning of the Punk era in the mid 70`s.

I remember those days.I was still planning the world revolution, when my girlfriend returned from a trip to Spanish Castle Magic, telling me about boys and girls with green and blue coloured hair, who were hating all them hippies. I couldn`t believe it...

"Like many artists who were ahead of their time Radio Birdman never got the recognition they deserved. They never got very famous outside of Australia. They toured the rest of the world but nobody really took notice. They almost got a record released in America through Sire records but the deal fell through at the last moment and Radio Birdman was left to virtual obscurity. They broke up in 1978 before most of the world had even heard the term "punk".

This Record was made in November of 1976 on month after the release of their debut E.P. Burn My Eye. It was only a few months after the release of the Ramones first record and it was a year before The Damned or the Sex Pistols released anything in England.

This bootleg is true rarity. It was recorded live Sydney's legendary Double Jay Studio for an A.M. broadcast. Double Jay was a Sydney Radio station that played an integral role in the formation of the Australian music scene because they focused on Aussie bands and they were willing to play songs that other stations had banned for references to sex and drugs."by Johnny Marston

Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen - Summer 1970 - Ludlow Garage,OH

Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen
Summer 1970
Ludlow Garage
 Cincinatti, OH

"Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen is an American country rock band founded in 1967. Core members included founder George Frayne IV (alias Commander Cody, born 19 July 1944, Boise City, Idaho, USA) on keyboards & vocals; Billy C. Farlow (b. Decatur, Alabama, USA) on vocals & harmonica; John Tichy (b. St. Louis, Missouri, USA) on guitar & vocals; Bill Kirchen(b. 29 January 1948, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA) on lead guitar;  Andy Stein (b. 31 August 1948, New York, USA) on saxophone & fiddle; Paul "Buffalo" Bruce Barlow (b. 3 December 1948, Oxnard, California, USA) on bass guitar; Lance Dickerson (b. 15 October 1948, Livonia, Michigan, USA) on drums; and Bobby Black on steel guitar."by wikipedia

"Commander Cody And The Lost Planet Airmen were a well known progresive art-rock ensemble notable for their brilliant usage of synthesizers and theremins on such masterpieces as Shostakovich's Concerto in B-flat minor. Ha! Just seein' if you were paying attention. Although, now that I think of it, fiddle player Andy Stein could play any kind of music you put in front of him. The Commander and company were merely the toughest, funniest, countrybilly rockingest band in the Bay Area in the early seventies. No other local country rock group would dare get on the stage after them (with the possible exception of Asleep At The Wheel who wisely kept things on the country side of the equation). Everybody else packed up their dobros and headed for the purple sage from whence they came. Anyway the Commander was best heard live and this is their best live album ergo it is their best album period. Nutty originals go hand in hand with inspired covers in this timeless concert in front of rabid Texas hippies and rednecks. My only complaint ; why oh why in the early seventies, the time of bloated, boring triple and quadruple overdubbed 'live' albums, was this racous masterpiece a single LP? Cody played generous, exciting sets and there must be more live stuff somewhere. But this will do just fine for starters.Crank it up! And I hope your neighbors have a sense of humor!"by David Kinney on amazon and I guess it´s the better one...

Grateful Dead - 1973-11-17 - Pauley Pavillion - Los Angeles,CA

Grateful Dead
1973-11-17
Pauley Pavillion
Los Angeles,CA

Listening to this show I went fishing for notes of the show and I found this:

"Earlier this month we told you about the fourth installment of the Grateful Dead`s Dave’s Picks series of live archival releases. Today, the band has announced a subscription series for the four Dave’s Picks installments they plan to release in 2013 and as part of that announcement have revealed that the Grateful Dead show from Pauley Pavilion on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California on November 17th, 1973 has been selected as Dave’s Picks Vol. 5."by Scott Bernstein on October,26th,2012.

We better do our job and share this excellent performance to the world before Pauley Pavillion also becomes commercial.

By the way, this is a beautiful 1973 recording. Grateful Dead at their best. Playing is fantastic and the show includes a  “Playing In The Band -> Uncle John’s Band -> Morning Dew -> Uncle John’s Band -> Playing In The Band” sandwich. Not the only highlight...

President Obama Roasts Donald Trump At White House Correspondents' Dinner

Congratulation America!

What a cool president!
I wished we had such an humorous political leader here in Europe, too, aah specially Germany...
(but did you notice that ugly, extremely white man in the middle of the room? That one you better keep far away from here...)

But the best thing:  After the dinner Barack Obama went to his rooms down below and gave the order to kill Osama bin Laden...
Pure adrenaline!

"Now we get to one of the all-time, out-of-this-world kind of shows: 10/25/73. I really can't say enough about this one! The first set is very good, but it is the second set that does you in. The "China Cat->Rider" is one of the better ones from that era...The "Dark star->Eyes->Stella Blue" is where the action is! There are "jams" surrounding these songs that Contain some very, very scary and unbelievable playing. A bass sound that Phil employs here will pretty much have you seriously thinking that this might be too much! Obviously words will never get this described very well, at least not my words...the most uncompromising show in G.D. history perhaps--10/25/73!!" - by Dick Latvala
