Ryan Edward Upchurch was born in Cheetham County TN on Mat 24th 1991. He comes from a close family full of humor which led him to become the hilarious redneck comedian we know today. In 2014, while hanging with some friends Ryan started creating videos as his character “Upchurch the Redneck” within four months time he gained over 100,000 fans. In less than a year he hit over a million fans on social media.

In some of his famous videos, Ryan would sing bits of his favorite country songs. Fans couldn’t get enough and would beg for more. In July, 2014 Ryan put out his first single “Raise Hell and Eat Cornbread” which started the RHEC craze. Before long, Ryan had his own RHEC clothing line. Redneck Nation quickly sponsored the clothing line and in no time RHEC merchandise became popular.

Successful? More than might be thought -- while it's clearly a dipping of toes into a genre the band had never otherwise been associated with, it's a dark, smoky track with snarling work from Myers and aggro vocals (and lyrics!) from Peno. All this said, there are some things that are forever Died Pretty, and the lead single from the album, "Caressing Swine," is a great example, with a low, rumbling rhythm, some quick, slashing guitar from Myers, and an air of general intensity building up to a fine chorus. The strong rave-ups of the past aren't as prominent here, continuing the pattern of Doughboy Hollow, but the overall sense of passion hasn't changed a bit. Myers takes a fine vocal bow on "Til We Get It Right," while the frazzled drama of "The Rivers" is a deserved standout, and the beautiful "Seize Your Ways" concludes the album. On balance, a fine way to end.

Died Pretty, sometimes The Died Pretty, were an Australian alternative rock band founded by mainstays, Ron Peno as lead singer and Brett Myers as lead guitarist and backing vocalist, in Sydney in 1983 – briefly as Final Solution. Their music started from a base of early electric Bob Dylan with psychedelic influences, including The Velvet Underground and Television. They were managed by John Needham, who is the owner of Citadel Records, their main label.

Died Pretty's 1990s albums, Doughboy Hollow, Trace and Sold appeared on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums Charts but they had more success on the alternate scene. The group disbanded in 2002 to reform briefly during 2008 to 2009 and again in 2012. According to rock music historian, Ian McFarlane, they "unashamedly plundered rock's past to arrive at an original sound that was always passionate, atmospheric and uplifting ... produced some of the most inspirational rock music heard in Australia". The band will be playing as part of the 'A Day On The Green' concert series in March 2016.

Grown Up Avenger Stuff - Eclectica (2016)

So Gene Simmons said “ Rock and Roll is Dead”, someone needs to pass that letter to Grown Up Avenger Stuff. They clearly have an energy and passion to them that makes the music really soar and feel epic. The good news is that I just discovered this band, and they have three releases previously. ( Hopefully I can sweet talk the band after this to let me get them) Onto the cd. Vocalist Deirdre Kroener is someone who when she speaks seems to have something to say. Whereas most musicians these days open their mouth and just catchy garbage comes out. Kroener is someone who speaks from her soul and her emotion. The ten songs on this record had to feel like a long therapy session of sorts as she is not singing as much as grasping onto moments of her life. There is a urgency to her delivery that just puts the vocals in this intimate light. The beauty to this band is that the members understand what their singer brings to the songs and they give her such an open canvas to draw upon. The musicianship compliments her vocals like a bird to the sky. This is a band I feel is sick of being considered a cult favorite or underground and this record is them lifting the lid and saying, “ here we are and we want to showcase who we are”.
Whereas most songs and albums once you listen to a song you seem to forget it easily when the next song or cd is put in, this record seems to stick with you long after turning it off. I think comparisons can be drawn to any 70’s inspired rock band in a Wolfmother or dare I say 60’s psychedelic like a Jefferson Airplane. This album wears its influences very proudly and when you think you got this band figured out, they thrown another element on the music to change it up. The punk rock vibe on songs like Vision were surprising, even more is that they pulled it off. This album has zero breaks or filler, each song sounds as important as the last song. The true negative to this band is that a music fanatic like me did not know about them sooner. Which means that most people may not know about them as well, and if that is the case, my advice seek this record out. If you want some honest rock and roll with everything even the kitchen sink thrown in. This is a band that feels very honest in their approach and very determined in their sound. 2016 is going to be a hard year for any music critic, it seems that weekly we get a cd that just blows everything away. How can this cd not be in any best of 2016 list? Be scared, you been warned the underground is no longer so under.

Little Village / Warfield Theatre, SF - Westwood One In Concert #92-26

Little Village was a short-lived project by John Hiatt, Nick Lowe, Ry Cooder and Jim Keltner.  They left behind one so-so album and several radio broadcasts.  I know they did a BBC broadcast, a WBCN-FM (Boston), and a WXRT (Chicago), but their most well circulated show is this Westwood One syndicated show from the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.  The show was picked up by European bootleggers in the mid-90s, appearing as "Living Action," "Solar Sex Panel," "Anywhere USA," "On The Border," and "Live San Francisco '92"...and most recently resurfaced as a gray market release called "The Action In Frisco" that's easily available on Amazon.

All of these come from the Westwood One In Concert broadcast.  I've only spotted one single syndication of this show, as an In Concert for the week of June 22, 1992,  but there may be other syndication dates out there as Westwood One usually did more than one broadcast of a show.   

While this is sort of "old hat" with all the multiple versions out there, I wanted a copy of for my archives of the original show and figure someone else might want it, too.  So, here's the original broadcast, with commercials edited out.

UPDATE: The bootleggers have often listed the date as December 7, 1992 for this show.  But the Westwood One show was broadcast "the week of June 22, 1992," so it's IMPOSSIBLE (unless Nick Lowe has a time-traveling DeLorean...) for this show to have taken place in December 1992.  There's a image up on Getty Images of the band at the Warfield that confirms the date of this show as April 7, 1992.  While it's possible they did play a December 1992 show later in the year, that date is just plain wrong.  

The most recent issue of this show as "Little Village ‎– The Action In Frisco: The San Francisco Broadcast 1992" makes the claim that "when the tour bus pulled up in San Fran and the fancy gear was unloaded into the Fox Warfield Theatre, the whole affair was broadcast across the greater Frisco area by local FM radio. "  It's possible that there was a local FM broadcast, but if it existed it would have MORE songs.  There's a show from the Orpheum in Boston later in April that has 19 songs; this has 13.  Plus, if there was a "local broadcast," a copy would have turned up on the Internet by now. Their source wasn't a "local broadcast," they just bootlegged the Westwood One show. 

Flac files of wavs...unfortunately the cue sheet was missing on this one so all you get is 300 dpi scans of the CDs.

Short but sweet: this 24-plus-minute re-release of an '80s-era solo effort originally appeared as a vinyl EP, and has never before been issued on CD. It is a unique mix of great vocals with a more rocking, bluesy, and jazzy quasi-mainstream song-themed balladic thrust. This release showcases Allan Holdsworth playing less "out there." Don't misunderstand -- the guitar is amazing: multi-voiced, fusion-fired, ethereally chorded, delightfully crystalline clear, note-flourished, and swooningly embellished. Add in the vocals of Jack Bruce for that Cream flashback or the I.O.U. band feel of Paul Williams' crooning, back to back with killer bass by Jeff Berlin and tastefully poised drums by Chad Wackerman, and you have fusion-rock bliss.Holdsworth addicts have waited a very long time for this to appear in the CD format. So go for it. It sounds great all over again. The original album cover graphics and notes are included.

I’m absolutely floored to see this recording.. This master has been uncirculated for over 24 years! Probably unplayed as well, as the tape was still at the end of the recording! As many of you know the quality of Teddy Ballgame’s recordings, this one does not disappoint!! In the last year, we have seen this recording and the Stanhope 1991 recordings surface. Both are the best in quality of very early Nine Inch Nails and I am so excited to add this to the archive! Big thanks to Teddy for literally going out and taping everything! Also, thank you to Ellaguru for taking the time to transfer this DAT master and sending me the recording! Insane to hear early NIN on Schoeps… This is also the first source from the 2nd day of the Lollapalooza Fest from Shoreline! Performance is great! Seems like the intro of Head Like a Hole had some problems and Jeff Ward improvised on drums! Enjoy.

The Fourth Way was a jazz ensemble composed of Eddie Marshall, Mike Nock, Michael White, and Ron McClure. Like their contemporaries Weather Report, they were early pioneers of electric jazz fusion, with Nock's Fender Rhodes piano run through many effects pedals including ring modulation, Michael White's electrically amplified violin, and Ron McClure's electric bass. They formed in 1967 and worked primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area through the early 1970s, releasing three albums.
Michael White took up the violin when he was nine years old. He first became known in 1965 when he played with the John Handy Quintet at the Monterey Jazz Festival, and recorded three albums with Handy. White was among the first to play the violin in avant-garde jazz, and in the late 1960s became one of the first jazz violinists to play jazz rock fusion (with his band Fourth Way). He has played with musicians such as Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Prince Lasha, John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Eric Dolphy, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Dorham, Joe Henderson, and Richard Davis.

Pretty good audience recording here of a man who NEVER EVER wastes a note. This guy is writing some of the best music he's ever done at 71 years old. His last four albums are better than 90% of anything else OUT THERE. I only wish, that he could drop the songs that he has to play and would be able to substitute those out for stuff from "20th Century Blues", "Something's About to Change", "Victims Of The Fury", "Back It Up",  "The Playful Heart", hell it endless.  The man is an icon, Too bad all this great music he's been giving us for the last 20 years will seldom be heard. Hope he sells millions of copies of his latest..oh wait nope...nope...Taylor Smith is going to release a new album sometime in the next 12 years and all forms of media had better concentrate on that instead of Mr. Trower...Well you have been warned!!!! Updated May 2025 with some press coverage, 300 dpi scans, and the groovy run out grooves.

Here's my latest project.  I cleaned the record with Titebond II wood glue, digitized it, and declicked the file.  

The picture to the right is from the actual concert which is up on YouTube; a comparison proves that while the date is unattributed on the LP recording, this is sourced from the December 24, 1980 show at the Dominion Theatre in London.   There's also a circulating bootleg of this...oddly enough, it doesn't have "The Upminster Kid" so even if you have the bootleg, you may want to get this, too.

As usual, I've blocked out the commercials so that you can drop them out if you don't want them. Note that they chose to spell "Sueperman" with an added "e" to avoid copyright issues with DC Comics.

There's a BBC transcription disc with the same show that adds one more track ("Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll").

UPDATE - March 2026 - This show is finally seeing an official release on CD as "LIVE IN LONDON 1980,"  as a 2-cd set, paired with a second show from 1990.  The 1980 set list has 15 tracks, so you'll need to get it!

The first big hometown gig for the legendary Stone Roses, at the also legendary Hacienda Club in Manchester. The line-up, the songs, and the shit-hot band, they're all present and correct in this concert bootleg.

Comprising mainly of tracks from their iconic debut album, the show fairly pings along as Reni, Mani, John and Ian are pretty much on the top of their game. "Sally Cinnamon," later released by someone unscrupulous while court battles were raging between band and label, is a joy to hear, as are "Here It Comes" and "Sugar Spun Sister." I really can't 'big-up' this bootleg enough, just take it and see for yourself.

I ran my virus scan yesterday. All was good. Today when pulling up a link I had one of those adware windows telling me I should "CALL Microsoft"...yea, right.

No option to close the window or cancel. All I could do was END TASK on the browser. I did general browser maintenance but I got the same window on relaunch.

I was finally able to remove the adware that was placed on my computer by going here.
