Hepatitis C is a bad disease.
I know it,because I had it. I had the luck,that I had Geno Type 3a, one of the lighter forms.
I know guys,who don`t or didn`t have that "luck". Some are already dead,others are still fighting against the disease.
Another lucky circumstance was,that I have been living in a country with a social security system!
You can fight the virus by using an Interferon-alpha-2a/Ribavirin therapy. The therapy for Type 3a lasts 6 months, the therapies for Geno Type 1 and 2 last at least 12 months.12 months can become veeeery long. The side effects of the therapy can be very strong.
130-170 millions of people suffer from Hep C worldwide (and most of them,who are mostly living in the 3rd or 4th world, don`t get any therapy.That´s like a death sentence...).
We can only hope they will find softer (and most important:cheaper) therapies to fight that virus!
