The New Barbarians Culver City Rehearsals - *BACK FROM THE DEAD ORIGINAL POST DATE 10-17-19

*BACK FROM THE DEAD (AGAIN)
*NOW WITH NEW LINK (AGAIN)
The setting, England, the late 1800's. We open the scene, in an old apparent abandoned cabin. What little light is available is provided by the full moon. Lying next to a fire place with no fire going is a mangy looking dog, cold and hungry, lost alone in his thoughts. "Damn, he thinks, he's out there ravaging, plundering, and scaring the shit out of the locals. Meanwhile this bastard has left me with an old hand bone that I've been chewing on for two fucking weeks. Heaven forbid he would light a fire to keep this shit hole warm, but we all know he's afraid of fire, lame ass. Why can't he cook us up a big pot of gruel? Oh yeah, the fire thing. Goddamn, if there was another cabin around I'd bolt in a second, but I'm afraid of his so called friend Larry Talbot eating me. Speaking of that shithead Talbot, last time he was here that fuck tried to hump my leg. I'm famished. Guess I'll have to go out by the old graveyard and dig up one of those old gamy legs I buried a couple of months ago. But you know, fuck it, first I'm gonna shit on this old rag he calls a rug. He'll probably spank me but that prick has it coming, why he would take me in is beyond me. We never play fetch anymore and I have to fight him over any piece of thigh he brings. Well the sun is starting to come up so he'll be home soon. Hope he terrified the locals or I'm gonna be in for a world of shit. So goes the mind of Frankenstein's dog. See scans.

Howling For Hubert
Various Artists` Tribute To Hubert Sumlin
February 24, 2012
Apollo Theater, NY
Excellent Audience Recording@ 224

A great pleasure to the Voodoo Wagon!

A very good friend of the blog sent us the link of this special meeting of Blues aficionados last night. Too bad we don`t have him here on the Wagon as a contributor anymore. Many thanks again for the show!

Eric Clapton, Jimmy Vaughan, Eddy Shaw, Elvis Costello, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, Billy Gibbons, Keb Mo,Warren Haynes, Keith Richard, Buddy Guy...they all played at this show in New York City. And it seems they all had a lot of fun!
Not to forget the responding audience too...

A Big Thanks to the producers of this boot! I mean the show is about 10 days young and we have a perfect recording including perfect front and back covers.
This is something only bootleggers can do. Salute!

Patrick Doyle reported in rollingstone.com:
Close to midnight last night at New York’s Apollo Theater, Eric Clapton had just finished a thunderous take on classic blues number “Forty Four” when Keith Richards ambled onstage with no introduction. Wearing a dark blazer, long green scarf, fedora and a huge grin, he embraced Clapton and stood center stage to massive applause, delivering a smoky take on Howlin’ Wolf’s “Going Down Slow,” a chronicle of a frail man who has savored life’s greatest pleasures. “Man, I’ve had things that kings and queens will never have,” Richards growled. “In fact, they don’t even know about them, let alone get ’em. And good times? Mmmm…” He hovered around Clapton and then stood sidestage by the piano while Clapton delivered a throaty verse and then weaved clean-toned solos with young Austin guitarist Gary Clark Jr… It was Richards’ first major musical appearance since the Rolling Stones last toured five years ago, and he showed little rust.

Keith Richards A Stone Alone

I'm kinda getting out of the music thing. From now on I'm gonna do what I have always felt was my true calling in life. That's right I'm gonna open a chain of rock and roll deli-style sandwich shops. I'm in licensing agreements right now to develop the Filet-O' Hendrix fish sandwich. Mama Cass chicken wings. Jim Morrison peppermint heroin flavored vodka. Keith's coconut chocolate candy bar. Cobain's shotgun shakes (1 flavor) Lou Reed's kidney pie. And many more. Look for one in your city in the near future. Oh yeah and by the way what could be more 4th of July than our own Keef.? See scans @ 224

Rolling Stone goes solo...
and maybe that`s the best way to spend the day...
(it`s only Rock`n Roll...)

"On February 28th, 1977 fifteen Canadian Mounties busted Keith Richards in his hotel room. Less than 24 hours after entering the countries Keith had procured an ounce of heroin and five grams of cocaine. Even though he had gotten the drugs in Toronto the Canadian goverment was charging him with trafficking. All of a sudden Keith found himself in jail looking at a potential sentence of seven years to life.

On the night of March 12th 1977 Keith found himself alone in Toronto's Interchange Studios. The next day was his final court date where he would receive his sentence. On that long night, abandonced by his band and thinking about spending the rest of his live in a Canadian prison, he decided to record a few songs. These are the first recordings ever of Keith as a solo artist. He recorded five extremely somber and poignant old country songs. Keith had learned all these tunes from Gram Parsons, a fellow musician and country music enthusiast, before his untimely death in 1973."by Johnny Marston

(Among other things), I'm reading Keith's biography by
Victor Bockris. Pretty well said that Keith does things on his own terms--and he's not concerned who cares, unless it's about music.

Keith Richards - Exposure

Was it Rolling Stone that had the contest to make a Frankenstein out of parts
from rock stars?
I know they discussed it at 104.3 in NYC a few years ago; I remember them saying one part would be Steven Tyler's lips. And the most incredible part of the story was that they wanted one body part from our guest: his liver--because they figured that f**ing thing was indestructible. Go and ponder that and ask yourself how your body is doing.

Besides, this has Keith on "I Can't Turn You Loose." Sold!
