Just the other day, President Obama urged other countries to stop censoring the Internet. But now the United States Congress is trying to censor the Internet here at home. A new bill being debated this week would have the Attorney General create an Internet blacklist of sites that US Internet providers would be required to block. (The first vote is scheduled Thursday, November 18!)

This is the kind of heavy-handed censorship you'd expect from a dictatorship, where one man can decide what web sites you're not allowed to visit. But the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to pass the bill quickly -- and Senators say they haven't heard much in the way of objections! That's why we need you to sign our urgent petition to Congress demanding they oppose the Internet blacklist.

For Duane on his would-have-been 64th birthday yesterday.  This one, from the Fillmore West three-day booking at the end of  January 1971, is blistering because EVERYONE got in their licks!  A must-have in the portfolio.

Berry Oakley is wickedly sinister as a reborn "Hoochie Coochie Man"(in every version I've heard, he tweaks the lyrics a little bit to fit his temptation).  "Hot 'Lanta" (named for favorite local groupies) is a taut, precise example of a jazz-inspired masterpiece from Dickey.
(And don't mind the sloppy intro mixing; they caught it, yes, as soundboard.)

Notes!  Radar Station overview recorded during the Bongo Fury Tour at Boston Music Hall on April 27, 1975, except for tracks 11, 12 and 13 on the vinyl release which are from a different Mothers show.

The vinyl version was released as a double but is usually found in separate deluxe covers. Volume 1 has a brown and white cover while Volume 2 has a red and white one.

As can be seen, the track listing on the CD version is slightly different (confusion over song titles aside) but it's a pity "Willie The Pimp" has been left off.

A complete soundboard recording from 1984. The recording seems to be taken from Dylan's monitor mix, since the vocals dominate a bit more than anything else. This particular CD release is an upgrade of an old CD release "Oh, The Streets Of Rome", where the above mentioned feature was even much more prominent.
Nevertheless, the music comes through loud and clear, and the upfront vocals only serve to highlight what a passionate vocal performance this is. A far more worthwhile and enjoyable experience than the official Real Live compilation drawn from this particular tour. A 'must have' disc from a period that is under represented in most collections.
