Kenn Kweder is another Philadelphia local star that I missed completely.
He first was in Kenn Kweder & his Secret Kids from 1976 to 1978, just in time to catch some of post-glam, early punk excitement. At heart he was a Dylanesque folk-rocker. As we've often seen, he was going to be the next big thing and break out of the Philadelphia metro market, but it didn't happen.
He came back in the mid-80s with several different bands...this one is the Men From P.O.V.I.C.H. I don't know what the acronym stands for, but yes, it's reference to Maury Povich. Maury had a show in Philadelphia from 1981 to 1983; well before he rose to national fame in the early 1990s. One of the newspapers spelled it P.O.V.I.T.C.H.
I found a lot of press coverage on Kenn Kweder, over ten years worth of press clippings and they're included.
If you like this, there will be a second Kenn Kweder live broadcast posted later this week.
