You get 300 DPI scans of the cue sheets, the Certificate of Performance, all six disc labels, and the box cover (and a lower file-weight version of the cover for file tagging). You also get two newspaper articles about the show. As usual, this is a fresh digitization right off the records.
To the best of my knowledge, this was the only broadcast of the Town & Country concert by Westwood One. Suzy Cruz shows up for the second time, handling the announcer duties. You may recall her from 91-17, the Stevie Ray Vaughan set that's in our archives.
A version of this show was released as BBC In Concert #516 CD in August 1991 to radio stations. It adds two tracks (Happiness, Change His Ways) but is missing I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley, She Makes My Day, Aeroplane and I've Got Dreams To Remember.
A silver disc bootleg from "the golden era of silver bootlegs" on Italy's Kiss The Stone label (KTS 038) also has Change His Ways, but adds Woke Up Laughing.
The DISCOGS listing for the BBC transcription CD has a note saying "recorded live at The Kentish Town & Country Club, London, UK 1991-May-30."
This "May 30th" date shows up all over the Internet. Concertarchives.org lists the show as May 30. Guitars 101 has it posted as May 30. Making things worse, BBC Radio 2's website says it's "June 1991."
This date is wrong! J'Accuse...!
Ladies and gentlemen of the Voodoo Wagon jury, I present to you an entertainment page from the Sunday Telegraph newspaper dated May 19, 1991, included in the ARTWORK folder as a handy .jpg file. If you would be so good as to open it....and read the left hand column, it says regarding Mr. Palmer, "His British tour begins this week at London's Town & Country (071-234 0303) on Thursday."
Count from Sunday May 19 to the following Thursday...Monday (20), Tuesday (21), Wednesday (22)....
Now, I direct your attention to the REVIEW of the show, published Friday, 24 May 1991, on Page 46 of the London Evening Standard. Do I have to repeat that? The REVIEW of the Town & Country show was printed in the Evening Standard on MAY 20-frickin'-4th, on actual newsprint.
You can't publish a review of a May 30th concert on May 24th. Such an event would destroy the space-time continuum!
Quod erat demonstrandum.
