A 21-year-old man fell to his death on Tuesday night (7/4) at Baltimore's PSINet Stadium while attending the Summer Sanitarium Tour. According to Sgt. Scott Rowe of the Baltimore Police Department, Martin Muschett of Danbury, Conn., fell roughly 80 feet from the stadium's concourse level and landed outside of the venue near an entrance gate shortly after 6:30pm. Police were still investigating the incident to determine if Muschett's fall was accidental or if he may have jumped intentionally, but there does not appear to be any foul play involved, according to Rowe. Muschett was reportedly sitting on a roughly four-foot high rail at the top of the stadium's seating area with his legs dangling over the edge of the stadium before he fell, Rowe said.

Six Grateful Dead Hour shows from 1992
Given that the Dead have released about ONE BAZILLION HOURS of live music, it's certain that the majority of this is out there on CDs that you can buy in higher quality.
It's noteworthy that host David Gans distributed the early versions of this show on cassette tapes with hand-written labels.
The main reason to grab this is (as mentioned) for completists who want everything. Hey, I've even included the 1 kHz test tones just for them. The other reason is there's a couple of interviews and a notice about the Dead cancelling shows due to Jerry Garcia's ill health.
My mom turns 102 in December, and she says, "Don't snort coke when you have a heart condition, and eat your vegetables."
Information on the contents can be found at https://gdhour.com/ under "Past Shows."

Flac files of wavs, includes 300 dpi scans of the cassette and j-card.
One version from the Sam Eliot's Mustache Collection, the other from Matt's Collection, brought to you by the Collective For Live Music.
While the Guinness Book of Records entry for "Most Isolated Rock Concert Location" goes to Metallica at Carlini Station in Antarctica in 2013, the title was held formerly by this Queensryche show from 1995. Queensryche performed at the Very Large Array, a radio astronomy observatory in the middle of nowhere.
![]() |
| The Very Large Array |
Well, not really the middle of nowhere, but on the Plains of St. Augustin in New Mexico at the Very Large Array. You've seen pictures of this place: More than two dozen giant radio dishes stretching out in three directions, covering twenty-two miles, picking up the ethereal electromagnetic traces of quasars, pulsars, and black holes. The site was chosen "because of their isolated location away from large population centers, and the partial shielding effect of the surrounding mountain ranges."
The closest town is Magdalena, NM, twenty miles to the east, with about 1,000 people. Another twenty miles to the west is Datil, a crossroads community with 54 residents.
I created a graphic to illustrate the size of the place.
![]() |
| If Soccoro County were in New Jersey... |
With no one nearby, in a county the size of a state, with a population smaller than your average Rolling Stones stadium gig, where do you find the audience?
The Album Network brought in a team of disc jockeys from around the country: Cathy Faulkner from Seattle's KISW, Larry Miles from Tucson's KLPX, and Phil Mahoney from New Mexico's 94 Real Rock (KZRR). Faulkner takes the lead role on most of the segments.
As to why they picked a radio astronomy observatory, the answer is "space aliens." While the band never comes right out and says they want to talk to the blubber-slime crab people from Epsilon Eridani, the "X-Files" theme music sprinkled throughout the special gives the game away.
It's a good show. I was not familiar with Queensryche before I chaptered Sam and Matt's cassettes. As one of the later "superfluous umlaut" bands, I had dismissed them as outside my post-punk area of interest. Big mistake on my part, it turns out. I missed a solid hard rock band.
I've included press coverage I found on Newspapers.com.

Total CD Time 72:14 / 21 Tracks

Liberated Bootleg @flac
This disc is awesome! Complete Radio Sessions was released between Outcesticide I & II. It contains four Studio Sessions, part of 01/10/92, and my personal favorite - the "Lithium" from the Mtv Awards with the "Rape Me" tease intro!! The intro was removed after the first broadcast of the show.
Since this disc was released in 1994, there have been remastered versions to surface into traders circles. At the time, these were the best recordings available. It has become fairly difficult to find an "official" Blue Moon disc since there have been so many clones made by other labels. This is one of the few "Must Have" compilation discs on the market and should be added to every Outcesticide series.

Another Hans Devente tape. Tracks 1-14 are from VPRO-FM, tracks 15-19 are an audience tape.
The FM is pretty good, although a bit hissy in the quiet portions.
The audience tape is muddy.
Hans notes: "part one is the radio show, part two is those tracks not in the broadcast, but my own recording in paradise, not the greatest sound ever, but I still like it"

Okay, gang... this is a re-up of a post from over ten years ago, back when Hans Devente was dropping tapes on one of his many peripatetic blogs that came and went every few weeks for awhile. I originally posted it on one of our offshoots that we eventually took down. A few months back, our pal Jonder was posting some Richman, and I went down in the musty catacombs beneath Castle Đ®åⒻṬëŕṽøï rediscovered my copy. Over the years, someone added a cover to it.
AS I originally wrote (above), the quality varies, but collectors will find it of interest.

"Rebirth of The Phoenix"
Live 1992
**Remastered** by thir13en
*Original Notes*
A real nice cap of the Cult as they exit stage one of their career. This was an outdoor festival with lots of other bands on the bill, including grunge favorites Pearl Jam and L7.
By 1992 it was clear who owned "alternative" music as the Cult had once enjoyed that status years earlier. So it's interesting to note a few things about their performance here; the opener being their biggest hit "She Sells Sanctuary" which is usually saved for later in the set, if not the closer...the wandering setlist that covers their first four albums...and the edgy-fuzzy-almost-grungy tone to the guitars. Definitely a much thicker guitar sound than they had ever displayed before.
I've mentioned before that the Italian boot label of KTS was well-known for some of the best silver's available in the 90's. And here again they offered up a very nice source for this disc. For me, it still needed some life, and now it's quite lively indeed.

This is the only three-artist Captured Live show, and it's a bit of a missed programming opportunity. The first thing that jumps out is two solid American bands fronted by a woman singing...and then Australia's INXS. There's nothing wrong with the line-up, but it seems like a missed opportunity to me. If the RKO Radio Networks had picked... say... Berlin... we'd have three American bands fronted by women singers, providing a theme for the show. As it is, INXS looks like the odd man out.
There wasn't much I could find about venues or dates...there's no venue mentioned for Quarterflash or INXS (other than "America" on the INXS show). Perkin's Palace in Pasadena is the location for Scandal. However... searching for "scandal" in the newspaper.com database produces more results than I can sort through.
On the Scandal show, two songs ("I Second That Emotion" and "Child of the Night") were unreleased at the time. They appear to be released now, but still on unofficial recordings.

| Not from this show, but here's the band! |
Sam provided me with the following information:
"I reached out thru the bands Facebook page and received a personal message from John Young. He supplied me with the info for the show. There is a longer concert video shot from the Empire that same night, but it is from a second set later that night. He told me that WMMR broadcasts were aired at 10 or 11 PM and kept within an hour timeframe. Most, if not all bands, played a much longer set later that night. That was info that I DID NOT have, as at times I have seen other shows that are longer on Youtube from same date, yet I had the complete radio broadcast. NOW all that makes sense to me.
When the band broke up in 1991, the band reformed and changed their name to Tubalcain. It was basically the same members except for a new vocalist."

Here's how we figured out that this was Houston, and not Seattle:
The cue sheet is marked "Seattle, Wash." No venue is listed.
I checked Concert Vault, as the Star Session shows were produced by DIR, the folks behind the King Biscuit Flower Hour. And sure enough, Concert Vault has a show labeled "Arena (Seattle, WA) Date: Sep 15, 1981" It also says, "recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour during the Little River Band's 1981 U.S. tour"
I cross referenced the tracks with the Concert Vault streaming audio, and they're from the same source as Star Session. However, this Star Session show has three additional tracks not on the Concert Vault version. The additional tracks are "I Don't Want To Worry," "It's A Long Way There," and "Reminiscing."
We know that Concert Vault occasionally lists incorrect recording dates by mixing up the broadcast and concert dates. I confirmed the Seattle show took place on September 15, 1981 at the Seattle Center Arena. Their date and venue are correct. I've included a print ad as proof that the basic underlying information is true: there was a Seattle show on September 15, 1981.
However, I also looked at the original King Biscuit broadcast. Discogs lists a KFBH broadcast on November 15, 1981 (split with Mink DeVille) The cue sheet for this show says it was "recorded in concert in Houston." They played the Summit in Houston on Oct. 7, 1981.
The songs on the King Biscuit show are all duplicates of the Star Sessions songs, as follows:
Man On Your Mind
The Rumor
Don’t Let The Needle Win
Help Is On The Way
Lonesome Loser
Night Owl
So... how do we decide if this is Houston or Seattle?
We let the band settle it.
The Collective For Live Music had a copy of the King Biscuit show. I did an A/B comparison of Star Sessions with the King Biscuit show, and here's what I hear:
Man On Your Mind
On the KBFH version they introduce this song with "this is Houston, baby...greetings from Australia, we are the Little River Band, we hope you enjoy yourselves, we aim to..." On Star Sessions, it's "...we are the Little River Band, we hope you enjoy yourselves, we aim to.." It's the same introduction, though, and the same music...the Star Session edits out the reference to Houston.
The Rumor
On both versions, there's an adlibbed "thank you" at the start. The versions are the same.
Don’t Let The Needle Win
On both versions, there's a distinctive whistle from the audience. Same.
Help Is On The Way
Again, whistling in both versions at the same place.
Lonesome Loser - Same versions
Night Owl
On the KBFH version they say, "All right Houston, are you ready for a little rock and roll here... it goes like this." Star Sessions cuts out the "all right Houston..." but it's the same track.
CONCLUSION:
The Star Sessions cue sheet and Concert Vault say it's Seattle, but all of the tracks are the same, and the KBFH version has the band reference Houston twice.
So, it's Houston, in spite of the Star Sessions cue sheet and the Concert Vault listing.
We also get four musical commercials featuring the Commodores, Tanya Tucker, the Pointer Sisters, and Roger Miller.
