This is also attributed to January 7, 1984.  Examination of newspapers reveals that a recording of the show was broadcast on BBC Radio One on that date, but the concert took place on October 26, 1983. I've included clippings proving the date.

Also issued as BBC Transcription Services CN 4304/S In Concert 321 and also as BBC Transcription TCDC 0052 Classic In Concert 49.

UB40 was touring to promote their fourth album "Labour Of Love," which consisted of ten covers of the band's favorite Jamaican oldies. The set list of this show has five of those covers ("Keep On Moving," "Johnny Too Bad" "Sweet Sensation," "Please Don't Make Me Cry," Eric Donaldson's "Cherry Oh Baby" (also covered by the Rolling Stones in 1976).

There are also two newspaper reviews in the Artwork folder.

I did this one a while ago, so I didn't look at the runout grooves.  I'll track those down and add 'em later.

I'm heading off this weekend to see Los Lobos with my wife, grandson, brother, two children, and my ex-wife, so I figured I'd jump the gun and put this up even though there's no runout grooves.

====

Someone at Westwood One must have thought "Two roots rock bands with Spanish names are a great idea for our In Concert show!"

Well, it WAS a great idea.

Both shows took place at the Kentish Town and Country Club in London, and both were edited down from longer concerts.  Besides the U.S. Westwood One show, both were pressed up as LPs for the BBC Transcription Services.

But as usual, we have a Scooby Doo Rock and Roll Mystery: What was the full set list at the Town and Country show?

The Los Lobos show was broadcast twice by Westwood One, as 87-12, and also later the same year as 87-26 (which is in our archives).  The BBC also issued it as BBC Transcription Service In Concert 408. There is also a version posted at Archive.org.  There's another version on Guitars101. There's also a version that claims to be taken from the original radio station reels. Some have songs that are unique to that version.

I usually spend hours trying to make sense of this stuff, but I'm throwing in the towel on this one.  All of the versions have good sound.  So, if you like this, download the other Los Lobos Westwood One show from our archives and go look on the internet for the other four versions.  They're easy to find.

Commercials:

There's a note in pencil next to the first commercial that says "L. Mack "Budman" "

So...is it Lonnie Mack?  Or the Fabulous Thunderbirds?  We had an astute reader figure out that the Bud Man Boogie was Johnny Winter....do any of these four commercials remind you of a band or a singer?

Van Halen - Unchained Monsters [1998]

Van Halen - Unchained Monsters [1998]
Recorded live at Starlake Amphitheater, Burgettstown (Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania, USA, 24th July 1998.
Except 2-7 to 2-9: Live at "Rock Im Park" Festival, Nurnberg, Germany, 5.29.1998

Stereo soundboard recording

The 1998 Van Halen tour was a significant event in the band's history, marking the first and only tour with vocalist Gary Cherone. The tour was in support of the album "Van Halen III" and featured a mix of songs from both the Roth and Hagar eras. Despite positive critical reviews, the tour underperformed commercially and was the last part of Van Halen's general decline after the early 1990s. The tour included performances in Australia and New Zealand, which were the band's first overseas concerts. However, the tour faced challenges, with several shows canceled in Europe due to Alex Van Halen's injury during a warm-up at a venue, which resulted in him injuring his arm. The tour was also notable for its high-energy shows, which had been a hallmark of Van Halen's past performances.

From the Sam Eliot's Mustache Collection
Brought to you by the Collective For Live Music

This is chaptered from a CD-r copy of the original syndicated radio discs that was archived by our pal Sam Eliot's Mustache, back before we started documenting the runout grooves and scanning the disc labels.  He sends 'em to me and I removed the clicks n' pops and chapter the songs and announcements.

The original broadcast was live on November 15, 1979.   In the U.S.A., more than 170 FM stations broadcast the concert carried to them by AT&T's Long Lines System, sponsored by Pabst Brewing Co.  Satellite transmission brought the concert to Canada, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, France.  The U.S. Armed Forces Radio carried it, too. Listening parties were set up at American colleges.  The estimated audience was 25,000,000 and was claimed to be the "biggest audience in history."

As big as this was, Foreigner's concert at the Civic Center Coliseum in Birmingham, Alabama a few weeks later was cancelled due to low ticket sales.

This copy was digitized from a Canadian syndicated broadcast, distributed on vinyl records. We're not clear on the relation of this to the original broadcast, except that it must have been distributed later. As is typical of Canadian syndications, there are no commercials on the discs.  Commercials would have been inserted by the local radio station.

I've included press coverage of the original broadcast.

Belly - Roskilde Festival 1995 (Now with flac link!)

From The ORIGINAL FBS archives!!

Belly - Roskilde Festival
Roskilde, Denmark
June 29, 1995
FM Source @ 320

Updated to include flac link!

Following several years in Throwing Muses, as well as a brief detour in the Breeders in 1990, Tanya Donelly formed her own band, Belly, in 1992. With Belly, Donelly expanded her dreamy pop hooks into more concise, catchy songs, as well as harder-edged rock. The band's 1993 debut, Star, became one of the first beneficiaries of the commercialization of alternative rock; it rode to gold status within its first year of release, as "Feed the Tree" made headway on mainstream pop radio. Despite their strong start, Belly never became genuine stars, and once their 1995 follow-up, King, bombed, Donelly disbanded the group in 1996.

Set List:
01 – Dusted
02 – Angel
03 – Untitled And Unsung
04 – King
05 – Now They’ll Sleep
06 – Full Moon, Empty Heart
07 – Super-Connected

We've got all four disc labels scanned at 300 dots per inch!  And the two page cue sheet!

But wait, there's more!  We have the original script for you to read!  Yes, in the privacy of your own home, you can practice being a radio announcer!  You can pause the recording and do the "open!"  You can read the "close!" Impress your friends! You'll stand out at the party when you show off your professional radio announcer skills!

------

The script says "recorded live at Nichols Arena in Denver Colorado, in May 1981."

Wiki says:
"McNichols Sports Arena was an indoor arena located in Denver, Colorado, United States. Located adjacent to Mile High Stadium and completed in 1975, at a cost of $16 million, it seated 16,061 for hockey games and 17,171 for basketball games.

It was named after Denver mayor William H. McNichols Jr., who served from 1968 to 1983."

It was demolished in 1999, just 24 years after it was built.

We've got a newspaper clipping that confirms the date and venue.

Van Morrison And Friends - The Blues Buddies

Van Morrison And Friends - The Blues Buddies

Liberated Bootleg

I couldn't find any info on this boot other than VLS Records is a Dutch record label from Beilen, Holland that apparently specializes in organ music if that's who put this compilation together, go figure! And that it's fantastic! Van performing with some great musicians.

Blotto has a website at:  https://blotto.net/index.html

The website has everything you'll need to know about the band, including Blotto merchandise.

The short version of their story is: Blotto was a regionally popular band from the Albany area in New York that mixed humor with a party band sound.  The band issued several independent EPs and an album, and received national exposure when their video for "I Wanna Be A Lifeguard" was aired on MTV. They opened for Blue Oyster Cult on a tour.  In spite of the national exposure, they were never signed to a major label contract.

I found print ads for The Chance Club & Restaurant that show Blotto was booked in January, March, July, September, October, and November in 1982, plus some press coverage.

Duane has carried on the family tradition playing with the same soul and passion as his father. This an excellent audience recording that I would almost swear was a soundboard if I didn't know better...

Much appreciation to the original poster!
