Uploader's Comment: A comment from rtalwani on my Blondie May 4 1978 torrent asked if I had taped them in 1979 at the Palladium, with Fripp. I hadn't, but i did have a soundboard of that show. I didn't originally like the quality and gave it a "good" rating, sort of 3 out of 10. But I just gave it a listen and was suprised to find that it's really very good.

It's an odd mix, maybe a monitor recording for the rhythm section; certainly the bass and drums are quite present. But so is everything else, and it really is ok and doesn't even seem very far off the master. I took a quick look and it doesn't seem to be a common recording so here it goes. Maybe someone has a better copy, perhaps in stereo? This one seems to be mono.

I don't know the exact date, but this is the show that rtalwani was asking about because Fripp is on Sister Midnight and Heroes. My pitiful attempt at a songlist follows, feel free to correct...

The Beatles The Silver Album

My brother collects Elvis records and he knows I collect Beatle records.  So on one of our recent exchanges he got "Paradise Hawaiian Style, Frankie And Johnny, Time Life Presents Elvis Country, Elvis' Golden Records Volume Three Elvis' Golden Records Volume Two."  I got this. It's called "The Silver Album."  The first cover (pictured above) is what my copy looks like. Now for all those Beatle fans that have committed every note, burp, and fart the group ever made to memory, maybe someone can tell me how much of this is on the "Get Back" series. I'm figuring all of the cuts here appear on some bootleg or another. BUT WHO KNOWS.......maybe there is something on here the public has never heard before. As the trailer for the old horror flicks kinda used to say "YOU LISTEN, YOU DECIDE" All dropouts are the record and not a defect in your equipment. No covers but I'll give you the description that was provided to me below. *Vinyl Recording

1.Don't Let Me Down (I couldn't tell if this was a different version to the released original)

2.I Dig A Pony (Different than recorded version. Starts with "All I Want Is You" Lennon laughs during song)

3.Get Back (Different from released version especially the ending)

4.For You Blue (Different from the released version as there is no talking from George (i.e. encouraging Johns Playing) during song)

5.Two Of Us (Different version than released)

6.Dig It (Radically different version with Yoko singing and making cat noises sounds as Lennon rants. The released version used only a small portion of this one

7.Let It Be (Different guitar solo than released version, you can hear tape swish and sounds drops out for a second at one point)

8.Long And Winding Road (Different Version than released. Paul talks "..many times I've been alone.." instead of singing this part)

9.One After 909 (Different version with great lead guitar. Sound drops out for a few seconds here and there)

10.Across The Universe (Different from original release and from the version on "Let It Be..Naked."

The Beatles - Black Album (1969)

The Beatles - Black Album
January 1969

London, England
Studio sessions & outtakes @320

Compilation of outtakes from the "Get Back" sessions.

Lineage:
CD>EAC>FLAC>MP3

The Black Album is an unofficial compilation album of solo material by members of the British rock group the Beatles. It was created by the American actor Ethan Hawke, and became widely known as a result of its inclusion in the 2014 film Boyhood. Hawke compiled the record to give to his daughter Maya on her 13th birthday in 2011, including personalised liner notes; it was then incorporated into Boyhood in scenes shot later that year, with Hawke's character giving it to his son as a birthday present. The compilation contains 51 tracks from Beatles members following the band's breakup in 1970. Critical reaction to The Black Album was generally positive: The Desert Sun described it as "a great listen", while USA Today called it "quite a compilation". In an analysis for the New York Daily News, Jim Farber suggested that the record was "a metaphor for divorce". ~Wiki

Leonard Cohen - Live Beacon Theatre 2009

Back From The Dead

*Enclosed Notes*
Last Christmas, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah was No. 1 on the UK Christmas singles chart (the song was covered by X Factor winner Alexandra Burke). While that’s mighty fine showing for the 74-year-old singer-songwriter, that has not stopped Cohen, who toured Australia in January-February, from donating US$200,000 to the victims of the country’s bushfires.

After leaving Australia, Cohen played his first American concert in 15 years at the Beacon Theatre in New York on February 19. With his voice low, Cohen sounds like a very much sweeter Tom Waits but it is his meditative delivery that makes this ideal for late-night listening.

This is what Jason Gross, in the Village Voice, reported: “Decked out in an appropriately black suit, he was almost sprightly, kneeling and buckling and shuffling and swaying to his mid- and slow-tempo songs, his gaze trained dramatically skyward and his eyes closed as he clutched the mic. Even his voice had regained its gravelly hush, sounding better than it has on his last two albums.

“And while his eerie upscale-lounge-lizard persona still gives off chills (especially on the lusty “I’m Your Man”), it’s his latter-day apocalyptic visions that carry the most resonance in these shitty post-millennial times. “Everybody Knows” now sounded less like doomy fiction and more like he was gloomily reciting present-day headlines; he particularly savored the frightening chorus of “The Future” (”It is murder”).”
