Fancy paper!

This is part one of a two part show.  Both shows came in a premium box with full color front and back covers. Captured Live! did not use boxes to distribute shows, so this is big change from shows before and after these two shows. The disc labels are two-color printing on a custom silver paper. The cue sheet uses two inks instead of the normal black only.

The big question on these two shows is "why?"  Why was all this extra effort and expense put out on the part of Captured Live! to upgrade all of the packaging just for these two shows? My guess is that it has something to do with the adverting, specifically Sparkomatic. I  don't recall Sparkomatic as a sponsor on other shows. Both Sparkomatic and Chevrolet are called out on the front page of the cue sheet as "Presented by..." The other advertisers (Levi's, U.S. Army) aren't mentioned.
Fancy label!

Speaking of commercials, the David Bowie impersonation on the Chevrolet Camero Berlinetta is a real find.  The music and vocals imitate the sound of his Let's Dance album.

On the music front, the producers chose to put "Owner of a Lonely Heart" on both shows, albeit in different places.  On the first show it's stuck in the middle of the faux-concert, and in the second show it's at the end.  It's the same recording; Yes didn't play the song twice.

Announcer Jim Ladd engages in the fiction he's actually at the show in Dortmund, commenting on the audience reaction and describing the laser light show.  I'm pretty sure he was dubbing this onto the concert in a studio in the U.S.A. at a later date.

Yes - Wembley Arena, London 1978

Yes - Wembley Arena
London, England
1978-10-28
Evening Show
"Silver Anniversary"
presented by KBFH @FLAC

Lineage: Pre-FM recording -> CDr trade -> FLAC (Xact) -> You

 *Original Notes*

I literally have no specific information on this show.  It was a CDr trade some years ago, but is awesomely clean. I've had several versions of this show and the 25th Anniversary recording has been my go to version for a while.  What made me revisit this plain 2CDr set was the name scribble on the discs - "Silver Anniversary." I thought that this may just be a play on words, but alas it appears not.  This recording is from the notes with the CDrs claim, to be a pre-fm recording from the KBFH.  There are three mentions the KBFH within the show itself - none being over the music. However, it clearly states "from the Los Angeles Forum," which I know is incorrect. Except this show contains Future Times/Rejoice which sounds exactly like the rest of the show.  There are several other differences - no BBC or Tommy Vance intros.  No BBC or Tommy Vance outros.  This show also contains Rick Wakeman's solo, the full version of Awaken and Madrigal which leads directly into On the Silent Wings of Freedom. All super clean recordings like the rest of the show.

Now I'm no audiophile, but I've compared (by listening) all other ROIO SBD/FM versions of Future Times/Rejoice that I have and NONE of them match what is on this recording. Maybe someone else can solve the mystery? The show is from Wembley, but the KBFH clearly states LA Forum.  Could Future Times/Rejoice and the other "extras" mentioned above actually be from the LA Forum and mixed into the rest of the Wembley show by the KBFH?  I don't know.  You be the judge.  Until then, enjoy this show for (what appears) to be the first time in its entirety.

Quarterflash played three unreleased songs.
The Bakersfield newspaper was not available.  The newspaper ad and review in the Artwork file are from the show in Fresno.  Hagar and Quarterflash played Fresno's Selland Arena Thursday March 25, 1982. Fresno is about 110 miles north of Bakersfield.  While they're not from the same show, the ad and review are probably similar to those that appeared in Bakersfield.

Yes - 2004-01-26 - Full Accoustic Concert Live in Los Angeles,CA

Ladies & Gentlemen!
This time I got a brilliant accoustic "Yes" show, which I wanna bring to your home!
And our friend of the blog , calling himself  "Horace Claudius Foxtrap" says,he only hopes you will enjoy it,too!
Who,the hell, can it be this time?
He says: "No-No-No, I wanna relax and laugh and watch. You don`t need all the phantasy discussion - you want music, right? Awww, you got the link, right?"

That`s what he told me,when I asked him for some more notes (I don`t like to do it all alone)...

Bonus:
Hermann Hesse:

In the Mists

Wondrous to wander through mists!
Parted are bush and stone:
None to the other exists,
Each stands alone.

Many my friends came calling
then, when I lived in the light;
Now that the fogs are falling,
None is in sight.

Truly, only the sages
Fathom the darkness to fall,
Which, as silent as cages,
Separates all.

Strange to walk in the mists!
Life has to solitude grown.
None for the other exists:
Each is alone.

Comments are highly appreciated, you lazy fools!

Thanks to Horace Claudius Foxtrap!

And Thanks to Hermann Hesse!

Enjoy!
