Another from the fabulous Sam Eliot's Mustache Collection.

This one is from WLIR-FM, out on the eastern end of Long Island.  For the heck of it, I tossed in some vintage newspaper mentions of the radio station.

So...here's a question for the New Yorkers in the audience:
How far did WLIR reach?  Could you hear it in northern New Jersey?

Thanks to  the unknown taper!

This is ridiculously great! This recording presents them at their peak. Little Feat has one of the greatest rhythm sections ever. The sound quality is great and the performance is outstanding! Check out The Fan, Fat Man In The Bath Tub or Spanish Moon at least.
Why Little Feat isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame is a mystery to me. They induct people like John Mellencamp, The Ventures and The Dave Clark Five this year, and still no Little Feat? Where is the love?

I thought we had put this up long ago but I was wrong again as usual!

Two Trains
The Fan
On Your Way Down
Spanish Moon >
Skin It Back >
Fat Man In The Bath Tub
Oh Atlanta
Willin'

13 Berlin - Dancing In Berlin

Another from the Sam Eliott's Mustache collection.  This one is not from a Philadelphia area radio station, but from WLIR out on New York's Long Island.

Setlist.fm shows "Tell Me Why" between "Touch" and "Sex (I'm a...)".  There was a cut there on the tape, so that may explain the missing song.

The date is confirmed by a listing in the Canarsie Courier.

Touch & Go is an unreleased song.

John Cougar Mellencamp / Four Acres Club, Utica, NY Aug.25, 1979

John Cougar (Mellencamp)
Four Acres Club
Utica, New York
FM
August 25, 1979

01.  A Little Night Dancin'
02.  Sugar Marie
03.  American Dream
04.  Tonight
05.  Miami
06.  This Time
07.  I Need A Lover (tape flip at 28:30 into the show...)
08.  Small Paradise
09.  Nervous Breakdown (cover of Eddie Cochran song)
10.  Welcome To Chinatown (tape flip at 44:44 into the show...)
11.  You Just Like Me 'Cos I'm Good in Bed (cover of Skyhooks song)
12.  I Need A Lover (fades out...)

This show was posted on Guitars 101 in July 2020 by "the accountant" in a link to multiple shows entitled "Various Artist - Random Wav Shows."

The Accountant got unedited shows from MauroR and posted them "as is."  He hopes people edit and track the shows.

The files were tagged as My Fathers Place Aug. 23, 1979

Before the encore, the announcer asks the crowd to "give a Four Acres yell" to encourage Cougar to come out for an encore.

The Four Acres Club was in Utica, NY...which is 250 miles north of My Father's Place in Rosyln... I think the show is actually from the Four Acres Club.

A quick search found a show from August 23...and it is the exact same show.  I've retagged this as Four Acres Club Aug. 23, 1979.

This show had two .WAV files. I joined the .WAV files together and tracked the songs.  The left channel and right channel had different volume levels, so I normalized them.

There's a break in the show in the first version of "I Need A Lover" at 28 minutes 33 seconds, and also at 44:44 in "Welcome To Chinatown," so this was likely recorded on a C-60 cassette, with breaks where the tape was flipped, or swapped out as the side ran out.

The encore of "I Need A Lover" is faded out at the one hour mark, so this could be an edited rebroadcast.

This is a very early radio broadcast for Cougar; his first King Biscuit Flower Hour didn't take place until December 1980, sixteen months later.

All in all...a pretty good show.  I'd love to find a longer version with no breaks, but until then, this will do.
