King Crimson - Indisciple Mining Rocks

King Crimson - Indisciple Mining Rocks

Recorded at Stonybrook U. 2/28/82 except tracks A1 and B1 recorded on FRIDAY'S ABC-TV show 12/5/81

Liberated 1982 Vinyl Bootleg

01. Elephant Talk

02. Red

03. The Sheltering Sky

04. Thela Hun Ginjeet

05. Turkish Tea

06. Nameless

07. Lark's Tongues In Aspic Pt. 2

08. Parting Words

The original record was made to look like a promotional copy of Warner Bros. in “Discipline” a like design. Indisciple Mining Rocks contains stuff from the early 1982 tour from a show at Stony Brook NY and two songs from the Fridays ABC TV show--"Elephant Talk" and "Thela Hun Ginjeet".

What makes this recording exceptional? Here it is: There are two instrumental pieces from Stonybrook which are prototypes/work in progress. One is the prototype of “The Howler”, the other one wasn´t released. "Turkish Tea" became “The Howler”, the other one was unnamed.

The Hoax - Live Germany 1999

Back From The Dead by Request...Third time for this one...
Last posted August 15, 2021

Guitarist Jon Amor
The Hoax - Live Germany 1999
Various Venues
Soundboard @320

British blues-rock group the Hoax consisted of Jon Amor on guitar, Hugh Coltman on vocals and harmonica, Jess Davey on guitar, Robin Davey on bass, and Dave Raeburn on drums. The members were all young students of the blues and had played together since they were in their teens; songwriting and arrangements were worked out together by all five members. The Hoax began to attract attention while on tour with the Smokin' Joe Kubek Band around England, and Code Blue Records label chief Mike Vernon signed them to a deal. Vernon, a veteran producer who had worked with John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Ten Years After, Savoy Brown, and David Bowie, was impressed by the maturity in the band's playing. Critics in England were also impressed with the band's prowess and heaped praise on the Hoax, comparing them to the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and the Rolling Stones. Their debut album, Sound Like This, was released in 1995 on the Code Blue/Atlantic label (although Code Blue was later jettisoned by Atlantic), and the recording is a good reflection of their live shows. On it, the band pays tribute to its influences, such as Albert Collins, Albert King, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robben Ford, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Miles Davis - Kyoto Japan 1964

Back From The Dead...Again
Originally posted June 23, 2012 and October 19, 2020

Miles Davis - Maruyama Ongaku-do Hall
Kyoto, Japan
July 15, 1964
Soundboard source @192

Miles Davis played three shows in Japan in 1964.

Miles said in his autobiography:

The shit hit the fan when George Coleman left. Tony Williams never liked the way George played, and the direction the band was moving in revolved around Tony… Tony didn’t liked George because George played everything almost perfectly, and Tony didn’t like saxophone players like that. He like musicians who made mistakes, like being out of key. But George just played the chords. He was a hell of a musician… Tony wanted somebody who was reaching for different kinds of things, like Ornette Coleman…

My first choice to replace George was Wayne Shorter, but Art Blakey had made him musical director of the Jazz Messengers and he couldn’t leave then. So we hired Sam Rivers.

We traveled to Tokyo to play some concerts over there. It was my first trip to Japan… We played Tokyo and Osaka. I’ll never forget my arrival in Japan. Flying to Japan is a long-ass flight. So I brought coke and sleeping pills with me and I took both. Then I couldn’t go to sleep so I was drinking, too. When we landed there were all these people to meet us at the airport.

We’re getting off the plane and they’re saying, “Welcome to Japan, Miles Davis,” and I threw up all over everything. But they didn’t miss a beat. They got me some medicine and got me straight and treated me like a king. Man, I had a ball, and I have respected and loved the Japanese people ever since. Beautiful people. They have always treated me great. The concerts were a big success.
