Love, Devotion & Surrender

When I first listened to these recordings it quickly reminded me of the David Crosby album "If I Could Only Remember My Name",which had been released some years earlier, I think it was 1971.

Smooth sounding instruments, acoustic guitars, harp, bells and unusually for McLaughlin:vocals

If you like the Crosby, try this one, too.
For special moments to calm down; if you wanna get away from the bustle of everyday life or if you only need some meditative or spiritually stuff to listen to.
A modern word: "Healing Music".
This is the right one.

Jack Casady - Bass
Grace Slick - Piano
Spencer Dryden - Drums.

Notes: Jorma, Jack and Spencer have probably burned a doobie or three before checking in to the studio; they are clearly cruising at maximum altitude. The last nine minutes of this session appear on the album proper, but here’s the whole thing, warts and all. And such lovely warts they are! Why they didn’t put this gem on the Jefferson Airplane Loves You collection is a mystery.

For all who don`t know this boot, this boot is highly recommended. Westcoast jamming at its best. Thanks a lot to the original source! Sound quality is excellent! Enjoy!

Billy Boy Arnold - More Blues on the South Side (1963)

Billy Boy Arnold
More Blues on the South Side (1963)
Studio Recordings @320
{Out of Print}

More Blues On The South Side was recorded in Chicago on December 30, 1963. The disc features the vocals and harp of a very young Billy Boy Arnold and some interesting guitar work by an equally young Mighty Joe Young. While the recording is 40 years old, I must say that the recording is remarkably clean from a technical perspective. The music contained on the disc is probably typical of that played in Chicago in the early 60's and is somewhat reminiscent of Bo Diddley or even a young Junior Wells. While there are some interesting moments on the disc, it is clear that this is a guy that got better, much better, with age.

Track List:
1. School Time
2. Goin' By The River
3. You Don't Love Me No More
4. You're My Girl
5. Oh Baby
6. Evaleena

Circus - self titled (1969)

Circus- self titled {1969}
Studio soundboard @320

Out Of Print

Mel Collins - flute, tenor saxophone
Ian Jelfs - guitar, vocals
Kirk Riddle - bass, guitar
Chris Burrow - drums
With:
Keith Bleasby - percussion (03,08)

Circus reminds a bit of the early Crimson at times, but only because the two groups are contemporary and to be classified as progressive rock, and Collins plays the sax and the flute predominantly there. Circus does not have a mellotron (nor any keyboard), and its music has a rather nice late 60s pop vibe (fortified by massive injections of jazz) with a repertoire primarily composed of covers, which would actually bring the music closer together to approach the first albums of Joe Cocker and Jethro Tull. A few originals are credited to Collins, including two ballads.

Interpol - Live Boston and Paris ('02-'03)

Interpol - Boston, MA. 2003
WCBN 2003
FM Source @192

Interpol is one of the bands associated with the New York indie music scene, being one of several groups that emerged out of the post-punk revival of the 2000s. The band's sound is generally a mix of bass throb and choppy, sparse guitar, with a snare heavy mix, drawing comparisons to post-punk bands such as Joy Division and The Chameleons.

Paul Westerberg - Lucky's Revenge

Haven't heard from Paul for a while. I have no idea what he's up to now, seems like he's kinda walked away from music for the time being. Oh and by the way you bastards better enjoy this. I could not get this to rip. The disc didn't look like it was in too bad of shape, I even took it to our near-by resurfacing store to get it resurfaced in case there was something I couldn't see. After coming home and trying again it would only get to 45% on the rip then do nothing. Now also, there was one of those home-made labels (of the cover) on the face side of the disc. Why do people do that? So after looking on Google on how to remove a label (in this case rubbing alcohol, Q-Tips and lots of time) I successfully removed the Goddamn label. Making sure I got every little micro piece of paper off the disc, to make sure those little fucking pieces of paper didn't get on the lens. I had to constantly clean the play side of the disc by drying off the CD. It doesn't appear the rubbing alcohol hurt the disc (does anybody know if it does? or is it the case of in one month's time all the music will be erased)   I WILL NOT BE DETERRED. Now of course when I first started to burn my own CD's I put those stupid labels on some of my disc. God I hope you never request those. I HATE LABELS!!!!!!! See scans
